ABC/Craig SjodinPearl Jam‘s show in London Tuesday night featured a large, inflatable guest: the “Baby Trump” balloon.
The helium filled, infantilized representation of the U.S. president, which made its debut in England last week during his state visit, flew outside the O2 Arena while Pearl Jam played inside the venue. Eddie Vedder‘s wife Jill posted a photo of the balloon on her Instagram.
During the concert, Vedder spoke about the large-scale protests that met Trump during his U.K. trip.
“I know at home, it feels very divisive. It feels like he’s…added such divisive energy into how we get along back home,” Vedder said of the president. “Then I realized the other day watching all the protests here down in the square…[Trump’s] actually bringing people together in a great way. If you get 250,000 protestors of all ages, cultures, different sexual orientations…you know, maybe he’s uniting people in a way that is gonna be needed in the near future.”
Fan-shot footage of the speech was posted to YouTube.
The London show, which was originally scheduled for June but was postponed after Vedder briefly lost his voice, was the last stop on Pearl Jam’s European tour. The grunge icons will kick off a U.S. stadium tour August 8 in Seattle.
